Appalachian Running Company is open in our Camp Hill location. Who’s the friendly face you will see in the store? Here’s a little about me from our Camp Hill manager, Rosie Mascoli.
My co-ed high school soccer team dubbed me the energizer bunny after lapping everyone on the team during a training run. From there, I went on to compete as a team of one for my high school in cross country and track. I showed up to my first cross country race in a cotton tee, soccer shorts, and a “cool-looking” pair of sneakers. I had no idea what I was doing so I just followed the blonde girl in first place. I crossed the finish line to my first 5K in 20:39 and local coaches started to offer more guidance. First, get rid of the cotton tee and get a singlet. Second, get fitted at a local running store for running sneakers. And just like that, I was hooked.
I went on to run and swim at East Stroudsburg University where I earned 3-time All-America honors in cross country and track and field. I broke multiple school records and provisionally qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 10K while also studying Exercise Science. I convinced my professors to allow me to do my first internship in a running store. This catapulted my love for how shoes affect the body biomechanically and developed a deeper appreciation of the running community.
After graduation, I was invited to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as part of the Collegiate Recruitment Program for triathlon. After many illnesses and an eventual back injury, I left the training center and began to focus on coaching in Philadelphia. I always worked in running stores throughout my fitness career part time, but it wasn’t until Appalachian Running Company opened the door to me to allow me to follow my passion and work in a store full time that everything came full circle. My favorite part of working in a store is being able to guide runners of all levels: from beginners to experienced runners in all things training, racing, and shoes. When I am not at the store, you can spot me running hundreds of miles around Central PA as I train for marathons with a goal of hitting the Olympic trials qualifying standard (2:37.00 or 5:59/mile) for the 2024 trials, coaching multiple online clients to reach their best, and hiking with my fiancé and 2 pups!
